Limbikani Orphan Aids Support Organisation

LimbikaniFounded in 1992 this voluntary organization was formed with the objective of conducting AIDS awareness
campaigns and assisting patients suffering from HIV and AIDS through home based care and support services.

The project used the funds awarded to buy farming supplies including fertilizer and seeds. These were used to grow high nutrition crops in order to produce food for the chronically sick and orphaned children.
Money was also used to buy supplementary food for the enhancement of nutrition for people living with HIV/AIDS, and to buy home based care kits stocked with soap, painkillers and other supplies necessary for volunteers caring for patients at home.

“My name is Sani Issa. I am 40 years old with 3 children the oldest is 9 and youngest 1 year old. I became sick in 2007 soon after I came back from South Africa where I was working. Things did not go well with me as I had to sell my properties for treatment as well as supporting my family. This time I could hardly walk or do domestic work to support my family. In 2008 it’s when I saw the volunteers from Limbikani Orphan AIDS organisation to provide me with food and counseling. I was encouraged to go for VCT where I was found to be HIV positive. I am on medication and great improvement can been seen for MYself. My life has greatly improved as I am able to walk now. I thank the organisation for the great work they are doing in this community.”
